The Dive

The homepage is not a page — it is a 53-meter fall through a story about work, machines, and the pulse that outlasts the noise.

The dive, mapped

Scrub the water. Everything below plays at its real depth — the whole story fits on one axis, and on the real dive, scrolling back up makes every word un-happen.

The story it tells

The dive is scrollytelling about this exact moment: what the machines say work is becoming, and what stays human while they say it. Three words assemble and burn on the way down —frontend, computer graphics, agentic work — each with a hidden word smoldering terracotta inside it: the END, the COMPUTE, the AGENT. A career arc in three shatters, told without a single sentence of biography.

With sound on, the fall has a second story — the zeitgeist itself, and it has an arc:

the machine chorus

synthesized voices, on purpose — machines speak machine

  • programming is dead
  • AI will eat all jobs
  • you’re falling behind
  • adapt or be replaced
  • everybody is a programmer
  • just prompt it
  • alles wird automatisiert
  • du bist ersetzbar
  • die maschinen lernen
  • wer nicht mitmacht …
  • skills depreciating
  • the boom is coming
  • productivity
  • schneller
  • 10×

…fading as the diver sinks

the counter-voice

one real human voice — recorded, close, dry

  • a Chaplin line, bowed
  • Spengler — technics as tactics of living
  • Heidegger — the essence of technics
  • tools shape us (McLuhan’s circle)
  • Nietzsche — the dancing star
  • the warum
  • Camus — Sisyphus, happy
  • Rilke — live the questions
  • Rilke — you must change your life
  • two closing aphorisms of my own — technics and the heart, reconciled; technics as the mind’s extended arm

…arriving as the machines die away

By the bottom only one sound is left: a heartbeat at 52 bpm — synthesized like everything else, but the one rhythm no machine in the chorus has. The noise is temporary. The pulse is human.
52 bpmstir it — it keeps beating

− 53 m, recreated live: the same living water as the homepage — sea currents circling, the heart drawn stroke by stroke and squeezed on every beat. It exists because it keeps beating — stop, and it smokes away.
